Apparently this can be purchased from Urban Outfitters.
Shocker.
SO SICK OF THE HIPSTER FAKE NATIVE SHIT- it’s even big in Okinawa.

This weekend we all camped out on one of the many beautiful beaches of Hamahiga Island. This is one of the few pics on tumblr of the island, but I will post more soon hopefully.
What an awesome 30 hours or so in a beautiful tropical paradise. The beautiful part wasn’t just the clear blue sea or the awesome coral rocks and caves all over the beaches, but also the people I went with. We did the most bonding yet on this little camping trip. Everything was fun, from building a campsite the first time to moving the tents and fire and everything as the tide came in (I told them so!) to swimming at all hours of the night to playing truth or dare and Mafia to waking up early with crabs all over us and our stuff to laying in the sand talking about the possibility of true love, happiness, and other fun topics. This was a magical weekend. Also, I have now skinny dipped in a new body of water- yes! Check “skinny dip in an ocean” off my bucket list!
So much fun in the sun. Now back to the reality of a light sunburn and work in the morning. Camp is a marathon no doubt, but at least there’s free laundry in our hall and the A/C is fixed!
Love,
Trev

I will be stronger, they’ll call me freedom, just like a wavin’ flag, so wave your flag.
!!! I’m so good at Assassins- damn I’m getting into this.
Hoping camping is fun this weekend and they fix the A/C in our building soon! Oh and that the terrible trio at my camp (that has 120 campers daily) don’t kill each other !
Friends are people who make you feel good about yourself.
Thanks Megan and Cari, it’s been a great Summer- 12 days left!
Today I spent the day snorkeling in paradise. It was amazing. At first I was a little worried because I was getting a little sea sick and I learned that the entire day would be spent on the boat or in the water. I totally thought it was a tour of the islands and we would be dropped off on one of the islands, but no. They meant it when they said to pack a lunch and plenty of water. All I had was a small bottle of water, peanuts, and cheez-its (I brought money thinking I could just buy food and water).
Anyway, I was saved by the awesome cooler of tea the captain had ready for everyone, gotta love that Okinawan hospitality. We first dropped off in a deep area just about 200 yards off the coast of Tokashiki Island. We spent a couple of hours snorkeling here and I saw so many beautiful fish of every color possible. I even saw two sea turtles, one swam very close to me!
Next we took the boat over to Zamama Island where we swam in a more shallow area closer to the beach, where we were actually able to swim up onto and chill for a bit (though we were told to stay only on the sand, because it was an area densely populated by Habu (Cobra) snakes.) It didn’t matter because the real joy was in the water. Where the boat was it was about 30 feet deep and you could see all the way down to the bottom and for hundreds of feet on all sides. As I swam in it got more shallow so the fish/coral/sea life got closer and closer to me. This was a little scary but mostly just amazing. Some fish don’t even care about humans and even would run into me, which I never really got used to. Gosh, it was a beautiful day. Well worth this sun burn, which of course is burning extra because our A/C went out again. Anyway, CoCo’s after was delicious and all around it was a fun day. I really love this island (and Cari, Annalisa, and Megan). Leaving will be so bittersweet.
Oh also the day was full of jumping off the second deck of the boat yelling “YOJO!” (You only Japan once)
Loving life, back to reality now in this hot barracks with meetings all night. Kinda ready for A/C and Cali at the moment.

I just want to do more for my staff. And for myself. This job is exhausting. They work so hard. We work so hard. I need to do something special for them. They are working their butts off. These kids are difficult.
We need a holiday.
I wish I could blog more but I am too tired. Wish I had pics.
I went ziplining in Okinawa. It was so beautiful. Thank you Foster SAC friends for driving us out there for such an amazing day. Wow. I love flying through the jungle. And ending the day with some delicious curry followed by shaved ice was the cherry on top of a day I will never forget :)
Best day yet.
